It's been a few months since my last post and I am working on a few different projects: The Great British Buffet, Perception and an untitled project about our older generation.
The Great British Buffet is a photographic project looking at buffets. For years, I've been eating buffets on Boxing Day, birthdays, work lunches.... and I have been collating photographs of these very British feasts. Perception is a follow on from my graduate exhibition The Perpetual Child. Looking at how perception of experiences can change as we grow older and change. This large canvas piece has been on going since last summer. Another project (untitled as yet) focuses on older people. Since I was a young child I have had an affinity with the older generation. At school in the final year I visited an elderly lady and I am still visiting elderly people! only now, i'm an older lady! Whilst working in the care industry when studying for my degree, clients would talk about their lives and I would envisage an art work of what they were telling me. I created a series of pillow cases telling some of the stories and this new project is a continuation of that theme, on a larger scale. I have struck up a friendship with a lady who shares many stories about her life and two images struck me: the yellow cup and saucer and Thorpe Cloud..... I have also started to work for an event management company and yesterday was the first event: Eroica Britannia 2017 (vintage cycling festival) held in Derbyshire. It was a fantastic opportunity to get my camera out so take a peek at the photographs. As well, I am working in the care environment again so I will have plenty of 'original material' to work with. I have also made some some tweaks to my website so any feedback is welcome. If you find a link that doesn't work, please tell me. I have checked and double checked ...... come back soon for more updates....
