Almost 2 months since leaving uni. I haven't started any new work yet, instead focusing on having a sort out and chilling. I have been out and about taking photographs though and did have a few hours in the garden where I put a piece of canvas on the grass (size approx 4 x 3 ft) and secured with tent pegs in the corner.
I then just let myself make a mess; using watercolour, acrylics, pen, charcoal, a multi coloured crayon and a tin can. I just spent an hour playing..... I loved just crawling around the fabric, using my hands/feet to make marks, using text to unload, The end result is a crazy canvas shown below. Inspired by Rose Wylie and her use of large canvases. I saw her winning piece at at Walker Art Gallery in 2014 and I loved the scale of her work. I have also added some new photographs to the gallery. If you are interested in having a print of any of the photographs, please contact me. There are a couple of textile exhibitions I hope to get to see in the next month or so..... Macclesfield Silk Museum ('Making Space') is one and the other in Stafford ('A Group Gathering').
