It's Tuesday at 7.45 pm and today my exhibition space is complete and ready to be viewed on Friday. It's taken 3 and a 1/2 weeks to get it to this stage involving hard work, cleaning, painting walls and floors, filling holes, putting dresser hooks into walls, taking dresser hooks out and re filling holes, repainting over filled holes..... you get the idea.... Putting the work into the space has been an education in itself. I've learnt to think a bit more out of the box ; my thinking and plan was to place the pieces on the walls like pictures. However, working with tutors and technicians, I was asked what it would look like lower down on the wall - at child height? It hadn't crossed my mind to do this, and what a difference it made. Here are some photographs of the setup ...right through to the final display

Can't believe in two weeks the exhibition will open and i will no longer be a student anymore.... exhibition space is coming along well. Walls are whiter than white ... work is starting to go up onto the walls... the floor is yet to be painted and i'm not looking forward to that as i'm a messy worker and with the work being up....! Sheets at the ready me thinks.... here are some pictures of my space and a few of the progress so far .. I've been going round snapping all the spaces and fellow students, technicians or anyone else that moves ! work has started on preparing the studios for our exhibition. The studios have been cleared of all furniture and work, boards are being put up for specific builds of exhibition spaces, and most walls are being painted white ...
my own space has been cleaned and prepared, and now had 3 coats of white emulsion on as well as some gum strip which covers where boards are joined together after the floors are painted next monday/tuesday, I can start to install the work... |
