So, last night I made my first piece of work for about a month... made a small gift for a friend's 27th birthday. It's gotten me back into my studio space.... which I can just about squeeze into with all the stuff I brought back from Uni.
So the clear out has started. I have put some items up for sale on my Facebook page because they're too good to throw away (https://www.facebook.com/traceyelizharris/). Tomorrow and for the next week, I will be going through the whole room to organise it more. It's been a working space for about 18 months so I now have more of an idea of how I want to work in there and how it could work better. I'm looking at a few submissions for galleries. Surface Gallery in Nottingham and one in Liverpool just for girls.... Have been totally blown away today with an artist who makes very unique and unusual pieces.... Annie Montgomerie (www.anniemontgomerie.co.uk) ... take a peek My local gallery has asked for more photographs of my mixed media work which is good.... however I don't have much currently other than all my studies so once the studio is clear and tidy I will start making. I really enjoyed sewing again last night. My last project you may remember was sculptural, taking me away from my lovely textiles and sewing which I do love doing so watch this space as to what's next.....

So on 27th May I officially completed my fine art degree. Since that date, I've been looking at all the resources i have gathered on professional practice i.e. what am I going to do next, what do I really want to do, how will I bring in money to live, where will I put all my art work from the degree show !! and lots more questions.... as well as normal day to day living! On Monday I'm going to an exhibition at Banks Mill (Jo Beattie) and this will give me the opportunity to check out the studios as well and enquire about prices. I am also looking out for a group to join or maybe consider starting a group??? who knows .... not me for sure but that's ok. The right thing will happen at the right time.... i'm putting in the ground work at present. Have been melting recycled plastics today in the oven with a view to creating a few wind chimes... something I have done previously but this time will be replacing the cassette tape with string ..... more info soon Have also been out with the phone camera taking getting shots of Bruno in River Dove in Tutbury and also George down at the River Dove in Rocester - for more photographs click button below Today is the final day of our graduate fine art exhibition at Britanna Mill and probably during the weekend I will go and remove the work - where I am going to store it though is another matter! They're not small pieces!
I would like to exhibit them as part of a larger exhibition ..... details to follow in due course So, the opening of the exhibition happened last Friday evening. I thought I was the only nervous one, but I wasn't .... my fellow artists were too... what's going to happen... what do we do... Here are a few of my photographs and 2 from Caroline Locke (tutor and artist) from the evening.... |
